PJ Wenzel is a Partner at Front Porch Strategies, an international voter contact and constituent outreach firm based in Columbus Ohio. PJ has been working on political and issue campaigns since 1994 and has done work in 40 U.S. states and territories as well as work for members of the Canadian Parliament, and Canadian Conservative Caucus.
Last cycle Front Porch worked on over 150 races and their client list included the Republican National Committee, U.S. Speaker John Boehner, Steve Poizner for Governor, U.S. Senator Jim DeMint, and U.S. Senator Rob Portman. In addition, PJ and his team at Front Porch consulted on over 30 congressional races and successfully defeated or passed 4 statewide issue campaigns in 2010.
In the 2007-2008 presidential primary cycle PJ served as the Midwest Political Director for Mitt Romney’s Presidential Campaign where he managed and oversaw political operations in 13 states. In addition to implementing campaign plans for each state and managing staffers in his area, he helped ensure Governor Romney achieved ballot access in some of the most difficult and legally complex states in the nation.
After the 2008 Presidential primaries, PJ served as Campaign Manager for Kirk Schuring’s general election bid for Congress (OH-16). The race began as the number 2 congressional target in the nation, and by the end of the campaign the Schuring team had raised over $1.2 million dollars, made over 69,000 volunteer phone calls, knocked on over 38,000 doors and earned the endorsements of the Akron Beacon Journal, the Massillon Independent, and the Canton Repository.
PJ has worked as a Field Director for the Ohio Republican Party where he held 3 field positions during his tenure and eventually became the State Coalitions Director. While at the ORP he worked on the successful Presidential Campaign of President George W. Bush, and in the summer of 2005 he implemented a successful five-county grassroots campaign in the special election of Congresswoman Jean Schmidt (OH-2).
In 2005 he served as Political Director on the Ohio First Campaign, which focused on defeating four dangerous ballot initiatives that would have radically altered the state’s constitution. Despite polling a week prior to Election Day that showed double-digit victories for the initiatives, the Ohio First Campaign defeated ballot issues 2, 3, 4 and 5 by enormous margins.
In 2006 PJ served as Political Director for Ken Blackwell’s gubernatorial campaign, and in 2007 he took a position as Ohio Auditor Mary Taylor’s State Liaison Director where he managed a field team and was responsible for relations between the Auditor’s Office and elected officials and constituents.
PJ has an Honors B.A. from the University of Toledo where he majored in Political Science and holds a Masters in Political Management from George Washington University.
PJ has also worked in the Washington D.C. office of former U.S. Congressman Rob Portman and in the Office of Intergovernmental Affairs at the White House. PJ resides in Columbus, Ohio with his wife Katie and daughters Chloe and Greta and they are active members of Dublin Baptist Church.
